Furniture and Art Transform a Burnaby Condo

Furniture and Art Transform a Burnaby Condo

After moving into their condo in Burnaby, this couple wanted to put a stamp on their new space to truly make it their own. Being avid travelers and collectors of artwork from around the world, adding a touch of their personality to their new home was extremely important to them. Working within a small square footage, this space was transformed from a house to a home through the addition of bright colours, space saving furniture, and personal touches.

Once a children’s bedroom, this office was designed with the intent of creating a functional work area for both clients. Incorporating a custom desk with added storage allowed ample room for both to store files and personal belongings. There is enough floor space for the Queen sofa bed to fold out, turning this multi-use office into a guest room. The open shelving used throughout takes advantage of under-utilized space and also doubles as a place to display cherished keepsakes and artwork while the storage ottoman houses guest linens for last minute sleepovers.

The bedroom boasted many small wardrobes that created a cramped and cluttered space. By adding wall-to-wall counter height dressers, we created a more cohesive look while adding substantial clothing storage. Layered textures, colours, and materials create a lived in bedroom that speaks to the the clients style and adds more overall character to the home.

Being the only room that was fully renovated within the apartment, the bathroom was changed from dark and drab to lively and functional. The addition of a custom vanity with large functioning drawers and medicine cabinet added the much-needed storage that was missing initially. The use of lighter colours combined with a large mirror and wall sconces brighten this small space and make it appear larger than it is.

Living Room

As the focal point and heart of the home, the living room needed to be able to host the clients large family who often come over to visit. A soft ottoman was added to double as seating and the storage of blankets and miscellaneous items. The bar cabinet beside the sofa doubled as a side table. By combining many of their art pieces, a feature wall was created to showcase their art collection. This living room dining room combination is the perfect spot to host a family gathering in style.
