This Shaughnessy home was instantly transformed by simply painting all existing walls and trims in a fresh white, modernizing the staircase by removing carpet, installing new wood treads, and updated black spindles. The design included updating all decorative light fixtures throughout the home with black and gold finishes to add a graphic element to the space. What is now the formal living room was formally a dining area enclosed by decorative posts, it was opened to create a tv viewing area for the family who enjoy viewing sports in larger groups. The baby grand piano also needed a new home, so we placed it near the new dining area and family room for more convenient playing and viewing. The kitchen was refreshed, but the original cabinetry was maintained by painting the cabinets a brighter white, applying new hardware, a new back splash and countertops. We also designed and installed a new, large island in a bold black. The Spice Kitchen was also updated to compliment the new kitchen, this space was important because of its visibility from the formal dining area as it is a walk-through to the main kitchen. We selected a patterned floor tile, and black lower cabinets to add to the personality but also to the durability of the room. There were many more effective updates throughout this beautiful home.
